Red and Wolfe (Part One)

When Sarah "Red" Ryder loses her job as an art critic for a Boston newspaper, she's brokenhearted. Worse than that? She's broke. Her boyfriend recently left her, so she's stuck paying her hefty apartment rent alone. After two months unemployed, there's no money left. With no immediate family to turn to, Red reaches out to her estranged grandmother, a reclusive writer living on an island off the coast of Charleston. Several days later, Red receives $30,000 and an invitation to visit.

James Wolfe is not Red's grandmother - but he's the only person waiting for her at the boat dock. Red has something he needs. He won't take "no" for an answer, and he doesn't mind screwing her over to get it. He lost his conscience six years ago, when he went off the grid. Since then, life is about him - and the renowned oil paintings he does under the mysterious pseudonym "W."

Until the moment he sees her. Then Red is all he wants. And Wolfe will have her - thoroughly.

EXCERPT

"Red?" I push her gown down a little further and close my mouth over her breast, working her nipple with my lips. Caressing it with my tongue. I'm rewarded by a soft moan that goes straight to my cock. I need to be inside her, despite knowing I don't have the time.

I pull the covers down and slide my hand up her shin, then up her thigh. She's warm from sleep. Her skin feels like burnished velvet. My fingers brush her pussy and she lifts her hips. She wants it. I love the way she always wants it.

"Race."

I love the way she says my name: a mew.

"I'm going to fuck you with my fingers," I say, leaning near her face. "Then you'll go to sleep again."

A dreamy smile floats over her lips. She nods a little, pressing her head into the pillow.

I slide a finger into her. She's hot and tight, softer than silk. I can feel her clench as I pump into her. She's wet this morning. So fucking slick. I stroke in and out, painting her pussy, using my fingertip to smooth warm lines around her swollen clit.

I'm rewarded by her crying out.

"Say my name."

I still my hand. I can hear my blood rush in my ears. Race. Say Race.

Her hands grab at my wrists. "Race."

I allow myself a brief grin. It's undiluted satisfaction. She knows - or at least suspects - I'm James Wolfe, but she's still in my bed.

"Say 'Race, please.' I like to hear you beg." I push another finger into her. Her body quivers. "I like to feel you jump."

I stretch her with a third finger and slide my thumb over her clit. I'm moving slow. So slow.

"Race, oh God - yes. Please."

"That's right - sweetheart."

Runes Series a Short Review

Review
Rate: 5/5

I am super excited to talk about Runes the first book in the Runes series by Ednah Walters. I'm  diggin this series. I just can't stop reading it. It has a different concept than what I am used to reading. Usually with my paranormal reads the supernatural is a vampire, werewolf, or angels. Not in this series. This series is based off of mythology and I am not talkin about Zeus (hint hint). One of the things I love about this book is the heroine Raine she is not like every other love sick super character. Instead, once she realizes something is just not right she is reluctant to believe it. I hate when the girl in the story just automatically goes along with whatever the supernatural says. If there is no Freak out moment it just feels wrong. If you come at me with fangs hot or not I'm freaking out, it is a natural response. So thank you Ednah Walters for making that part realistic. Raine is strong and loyal she fights for her friends and when backed into a corner she claws her way out on her own terms. No supernatural will dictate her decisions for her no matter how hard they try. I enjoyed the  mystery of this book trying to figure out who certain people are and why others just keep coming at her and her friends. I even had to do a happy dance No love triangle. You might think at first yes there is one with Raines long time BFF and long time crush Eirik and sexy arrogant  Torin St. James. In the end Raine actually makes a decision instead of stringy the other guy along, lets just say some friends should just stay friends ;) After I read this book I immediately had to jump into the next and then the next and let me tell you it just keeps getting better and better as the series progresses. We see many developments unfold and some major shock factors occur. Before I end I have to mention Raines other BFF Cora at first typical best girl friend blonde perky loyal to a fault same and predictable. However, I promise if you keep reading you will see by the third installment in the series she is anything but the normal girl, Hell I wanna be friends with Cora. So if you love thrilling, fast paced, Paranormal with a touch of fantasy and mythology annnd a smidge of yummy romance, this series is for you. Best part this first book Runes is FREE!!!!

Synopsis

Seventeen-year-old Raine Cooper has enough on her plate dealing with her father’s disappearance, her mother’s erratic behavior and the possibility of her boyfriend relocating. The last thing she needs is Torin St. James—a mysterious new neighbor with a wicked smile and uncanny way of reading her.

Raine is drawn to Torin’s dark sexiness against her better judgment, until he saves her life with weird marks and she realizes he is different. But by healing her, Torin changes something inside Raine. Now she can’t stop thinking about him. Half the time, she’s not sure whether to fall into his arms or run.

Scared, she sets out to find out what Torin is. But the closer she gets to the truth the more she uncovers something sinister about him. What Torin is goes back to an ancient mythology and Raine is somehow part of it. Not only is she and her friends in danger, she must choose a side, but the wrong choice will cost Raine her life

Sorry I was away for so long duty calls in the form of midterms. I also have been trying to decide how I want to review the Roamers Series by Kristen Middleton. Mostly because I have just finished reading the series and feel a review on the whole series is needed. I will show book one but discuss all four book's in the series so there will be spoiler's.

Synopsis (amazon)

Seventeen year old Nikki and her twin brother, Nathan, move to the small town of Shore Lake to start over after their mother is brutally attacked. When a missing teenager washes up on shore during their first night at the cabin and there are whispers of vampires in Shore Lake, Nikki begins to realize that there are things roaming in the darkness that are far more sinister than what they left behind in the city.

I really wanted to love this series, I really did. Unfortunately I did not in fact at the end of this series I was down right mad. For the record that never happens to me. The first book in the series is Blur and for me I first read it in an anthology recommended by another author. When I first started to read this story I was somewhat intrigued after the brutality committed to Nikki and Nathan's mother by their father of all people. The story continues with the three moving away hoping to start over. Up to this point I'm still into the story. Then once they arrive at Shore lake and the cabin where they will be staying the story starts reading like a script I could literally picture how many steps Nikki walks up to her new bedroom normally this would be great but this was just overkill. Still I continued to read and found this book to be just as much a mystery as a paranormal read. bodies begin to show up; warnings are made and I love a good mystery so now I'm invested. Enter Ethan the supposed bad guy and ex boyfriend of a murder victim. He is obviously our supernatural but he is also a complete jerk and could of very easily been the villain, and goes more to the mystery. Now Nikki and Nathan twins by the way make friends with handsome Duncan the first guy our little Nikki is interested in. So the three friends try to figure out the murder's and why the cabin appears to be being stalked by something supernatural, the three think its a ghost. They will eventually figure out its vampires and Ethan is one of them and for whatever reason there is some force between Ethan and Nikki. Nikki will do just about any thing for Ethan and she knows that's not right. In fact one of the few things I did like about this series is the heroine tries to stay away from the supernatural and warn those she loves. By the end of the book Nikki will all but give in to Ethan as he is run out of town by the good sheriff Caleb who starts dating the mother of Nikki and Nathan and is a vampire along with his psycho daughter Celeste. Now these vamps can effect your memory and make you do things using their vamp voo doo. Enter a shape shifter /stalker Faye. Crazy in love with Ethan who is currently looking for his possibly reincarnated dead wife Miranda. This is where the stories start to get frustrating at first it was kinda exciting trying to decipher the truth which is why I gave at least a 2. The problem is it just kept happening how many times can one person die or you think their dead. The twists just kept coming enter victor/ Galen/Nikki and Nathans dad, oops nope they only thought he was there dad and he is a power, hungry, crazy Lycan not to be confused with a werewolf. The problem with this series is there were to many loose ends, for example at one point in book 3 we have a new character Maximus a detective with his partner Rena. Now Rena is human and surprise Maximus is a lycan which would be good considering he seems to be on Nikki's side but one night as he changes Rena follows and is vamp voo dooed and made to forget and Max is killed. End of their story no follow up just their gone. This baffled me because Rena seemed the stubborn type at least she would look for her assumed dead or missing partner but nope. This series has many of these incomplete story lines. The worse is the ending of this series after enduring all these errors I hung on. Duncan and Nikki become a couple and eventually engaged even though some lies tore Nikki from Ethan yea I felt bad for him but again he was a constant jerk with lies, secrets, and his own obsession with his Miranda. There was never any real chemistry between Nikki and Ethan just this magical pull. With Nikki and Duncan there was a building of chemistry and reason they fell in love and then Duncan's heart is ripped out and he is dead I was genuinely shocked. The ending the quick lets end it. Nikki finds Ethan and tell's him she met the psychic who told Ethan Miranda would be reincarnated and that she as in Nikki really is her and she knows her and Ethan should be together. End with some love words and a kiss. But seriously we only hear about Miranda in the way other girls including Nikki look like her and Ethan's obsession with her until Nikki. Now all of the sudden She is Miranda no premise to how she is her or why or even signs that she is really here just Ethan and Nikki poorly wrapped up. This was a series with some definite potential that just flopped for me and yet I read the whole series before I came to this conclusion I will say again I am not a quitter. I finish what I start even if it lacks all the way to the end.

Jacque Pierce was just an ordinary 17 year old girl getting ready to start her senior year in high school in Coldspring, Texas. When a mysterious foreign exchange student from Romania moves in across the street, Jacque and her two best friends, Sally and Jen, don't realize the last two weeks of their summer was going to get a lot more interesting. From the moment Jacque sets eyes on Fane she feels an instant connection, a pull like a moth to a flame. Little does she know that the flame she is drawn to is actually a Canis Lupus, werewolf, and she just happens to be his mate; the other half of his soul. The problem is Fane is not the only wolf in Coldspring, Texas. Just as Fane and Jacque are getting to know each other, another wolf steps out to try and claim Jacque as his mate. Fane will now have to fight for the right to complete the mating bond, something that is his right by birth but is being denied him by a crazed Alpha. Will the love Fane has for Jacque be enough to give him the strength to defeat his enemy, will Jacque accept that she is Fane's mate and complete the bond between them?

RATE 4/5

I did mention how much I love this series. However, I gave the first book a 4 out of 5 simply because the girls slang can be a bit overkill. In the book's following prince of wolves their slang is still there just toned down a bit. I love these character's, Jackie and her two best friends are witty, funny, and extremely loyal. You can see how these girls friendship is like they are their own pack. Jackie's best friends Jen and Sally are fiercely protective over Jackie and define what a true best friend is.
As Jackie discovers her new neighbor from Romania, Fane. She finds herself drawn to him and his voice in her head doesn't help her feel any less crazy. Fane is everything a wolf prince should be definitely yummy to look at and extremely protective. He is Alpha just under his father. After finding Jackie he will have to prove just how Alpha he truly is if he is going to protect his mate and other half of his soul. This series just gets better as it goes there are 8 total books in this series and once you start you have to finish who doesn't love a story that will make you laugh out loud while your family looks at you like your crazy and cry for the pain of characters. The Grey Wolves Series is not just a book series because these character's will get under your skin and become like friends to you. especially all the "fur balls" as Jen would say.

the premonition series

hello I would very much like to introduce you to the premonitions series if you don't already know about it. first book inescapable is only 2.99 on amazon. well worth the price and then some

                                                                  synopsis (amazon)

My name is Evie Claremont and this was to be the making of me–my freshman year of college. I’d been hoping that once I’d arrived on Crestwood’s campus, the nightmare that I’ve been having would go away. It hasn’t.
I may be an inexperienced seventeen-year-old, but I’m grounded…sane. I look for rational explanations to even the strangest circumstances. Since meeting sophomore Reed Wellington, however, nothing makes any sense. Whenever he’s near, I feel an attraction to him–a magnetic kind of force pulling me towards him. I know what you’re thinking…that sounds fairly awesome. Yeah, it would be…if he liked me, but Reed acts as if I’m the worst thing that has ever happened to Crestwood…or him. But get this, for some reason every time I turn around he’s there, barging into my life.
What is the secret that he’s keeping from me? I’m hoping that it’s anything but what I suspect: that he’s not exactly normal…and neither am I. So, maybe Crestwood won’t be the making of me, but it could be the breaking of me. I’ve been left to wonder if the dark future my dream is foretelling is…inescapable.

I just have to say how much I am in love with this series and author amy bartol she definitely knows how to keep the suspense going. the first book in the beginning can be a bit difficult to get through but it sets the background wonderfully to help develop evie and the other characters. By the middle it picks up so quick and you are completely hooked. the heat or butterflies between reed (swoon) is mystifying and intense. then their is russel another yummy morsel for you. who doesn't love a tall handsome southern gentleman and a quarterback. evie is drawn to both of these sexy men and so starts the love triangle.  evie is changing and she has no idea how or why. Reed may be the answer to what she is becoming but even to him she is very different alluring and confusing. I never saw the villain in this book coming I have to admit I was completely shocked. just goes to amy bartols amazing story telling. this book is followed by 3 others and the 5and final installment is in the works. so I am shouting and screaming you must get this series I promise you will not be disappointed there is love, romance, fighting, running for your life, humor, sadness, and some very hunky book candy.
so hope you enjoy.
